Triple P - Positive Parenting Programme

The Triple P - Positive Parenting Program is one of the world’s most effective parenting programmes.

Triple P was developed by Professor Matt Saunders.  It is one of the few parenting programmes based on evidence. It gives parents the skills they need to raise confident, healthy children and teenagers and to build stronger family relationships.  It also helps parents manage misbehaviour and prevent problems occurring in the first place.

Triple P has been built on more than 30 years of ongoing research, and has helped more than six million children and their families in 20 countries around the world.

The programme can be delivered face to face or via Zoom.

Incredible Years Parenting

Tararua REAP runs the Incredible Years Parenting Programme regularly. This is a 14 week parenting programme for parents of children aged 3-8 years. It involves weekly sessions of around two hours. Over the weeks, parents develop strategies to build positive relationships with their children and to manage problem behaviours. For further information please contact Tararua REAP on (06) 374 6565 or email office@tararuareap.co.nz

Topics covered include:

  • How to play/spend special time together
  • Praising and rewarding children
  • Communicating positively
  • Setting limits
  • Dealing with disobedience,
  • Selectively using distractions, ignoring, time out and other penalties
  • Helping children to problem-solve.

The programme spends a lot of time looking at how parents can develop good relationships with children, through play and spending time together.

SKIP Resources

SKIP resources were developed by the SKIP team to be a straight-forward, easily understood source of information. Some are designed specifically for parents, caregivers and families, while others are aimed at helping community groups conduct workshops and training.

SKIP resources are provided free of charge. You do not need to have an existing relationship with SKIP.  For example, we often send resources to doctors surgeries and childcare centres, as well as to community groups.
