Tararua REAP - Rural Education Activities Programme

Tararua REAP is your "First Stop Education Shop" for education and community development services in the Tararua District.

We operate locally, designing and developing programmes, courses, workshops and seminars to meet community needs.

Tararua REAP makes a real difference in the community by delivering and supporting all sectors of education including early childhood, schools, youth, tertairy and adults.

Triple P

What's On

First Aid Training

All First Aid Courses at REAP are run by the NZ Red Cross and are held at the REAP Building at 15 Gordon Street, Dannevirke. All courses meet NZQA standards.

Comprehensive & Essential First Aid

This core first aid course, meets the Department of Labour's "First Aid for Workplaces - A Good Practice Guide (Sept 2009)" requirements and the requirements of many industries and training programmes.

First Aid Revalidation

Complete this course two yearly to continue to meet the Department of Labour's "First Aid for Workplaces - A Good Practice Guide (Sept 2009)" requirements. NB If your certificate has expired by more than 3 months you will need to complete the full Comprehensive First Aid course again.

'Triple P' Positive Parenting Program

Tararua REAP's Parent Education & Support will be focusing on using the Triple P programme in both one to one and group courses this year.

The four topics available to parents in a group course are:

Dealing With Disobedience

Developing Good Bedtime Routines

Managing Fighting & Aggression

Hassle Free Shopping

These group classes are short two hour sessions and can be delivered to small groups of parents who already meet, so please feel free to call Tararua REAP and ask Wendy to come and deliver a topic to your group.

Parents can also participate in one to one Triple P parenting by attending four sessions and focusing on developing skills and strategies to manage and improve the targeted behaviour.

Upcoming Workshops for 2013

The Incredible Years Parenting programme will run from 10 June for two and a half hours each week for fourteen weeks. This is an intensive behaviour change course for parents of children with complex behavioural issues.

Parents of children aged 3 - 8 years are welcome to contact Wendy at Tararua REAP, (06) 3746565 to talk about this programme. Referral forms are also available at Tararua REAP for any organisations that may have families that would benefit from attending the Incredible Years course.

All Tararua REAP parenting courses are free, so call in for a coffee and discuss your parenting needs with Wendy.
